I’m Jim Yarrington and I’ve been in the real estate industry since 1986. In that year, I obtained my salespersons license in both the state of Kansas and Missouri after nearly 13 years in corporate America. Many people are surprised to find out that I worked for Anheuser-Busch Companies, with most of my work for A-B in their Corporate Headquarters in St Louis. I moved to St. Louis, after graduating from The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!), with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. I think it is my background in engineering, and my love of numbers, which carried over from a corporate planning position to one of an individual planning position for my current mortgage customers.
So, in 1994, my career in Real Estate changed from showing the homes to financing homes. Ironically, when I jumped into the mortgage industry in January 1994, mortgage interest rates for a 30-year fixed rate began at 6.25% and in a matter of 90 days they jumped to 9.25%. Needless to say, it was one heck of an introduction to the mortgage business. However, my philosophy of creating a relationship with my customers, of creating a long term plan for my customers paid off. I have customers who have continued to call me back for their refinancing and new-home purchase needs.
I also obtained my Kansas Real Estate Broker’s license in 1994, which I still hold today. I keep this broker’s license active, not to sell real estate, but to be able to understand the changes in real estate laws and to better understand the process each of my customers go through when they purchase a home. In 2002, I was asked to become an educator for Career Education Systems; I was approved by both the Missouri and Kansas Real Estate Commissions to teach continuing education classes for Realtors and basic financing for new Realtors.
During my 12 plus years in the mortgage industry, I trained at a small brokerage shop and now work for Pulaski Bank Home Lending, a Federal Savings Bank. I am proud to say that I work for Pulaski Bank, and have their support in being able to offer competitive programs and rates to customers. I am here as a resource. Many of my past customers started by just asking questions or looking for second opinions about the current mortgages they were trying to obtain.
I have a passion for Ohio State Football, and love to go pheasant hunting in South Dakota on my annual father and son hunt. You can also find me on the golf course where I need a lot of extra work! And even sometimes, you will get to meet Molly, my 6 year old Yellow Labrador, who often comes to the office with me on weekend appointments.
